Yoga for Stress & Anxiety

This class will allow participants to quieten over-activated and fatigued body systems and support them with tools to self-soothe and navigate the ups and downs of life with more ease, ultimately bringing them back to themselves. As we move the body with calm long breaths, we increase body oxygenation, spare vital nutrients, reduce heart rate, relax muscles and reduce anxiety. This increases all-over communication throughout the body, including that between the brain, spinal cord and nerves. The brain needs three times more oxygen than the rest of the body, so increasing this supply with conscious breathing can have immediately positive effects on mood, cognitive function and focus. Learning to stay with yoga postures, breathing practices and meditation helps us to become more accepting and able to relax into what might previously have been perceived as discomfort or pain.
