What is a resistance band?
It’s an elastic band used during fitness routines, and more specifically during Pilates sessions.
This accessory is not new. It was initially used to help athletes with the muscle strengthening and by physiotherapists to help with muscle rehabilitation.
Resistance bands come in different lengths and levels of resistance, which means you can adapt them for an effective workout. Thanks to their elasticity, you can tone your muscles by varying the resistance and tension of the bands. These bands are great for anyone who wants to get back in shape or improve their general fitness.
What are resistance bands made for? And how should they be used?
Resistance bands allow you to gradually engage your muscles: you can easily adapt the resistance based on your fitness level and training goals. They’re easy to use and are versatile, adapting to any exercise without putting pressure on your joints.
You can use them for specific muscle groups (arms, glutes, shoulders, abs, back or chest) while improving your Pilates level and fitness ability.
What are the benefits of using resistance bands?
- They’re versatile: no need for additional accessories. You can do a large number of exercises aimed at different parts of your body
- They help with flexibility: you can stretch the bands in different directions, which can help improve your overall flexibility
- They’re suitable for everyone: all levels and fitness abilities
They’re compact: It’s easy to transport them anywhere. You can do your fitness sessions at home, at work, on holidays or even in the park!
