The Chatsworth Estate sits on the banks of the river Derwent in the heart of the Peak District. The main estate, around the house, covers over 12,000 acres and takes in quaint villages, farmyards, rolling hills, woodland and moorland.

There is ample parking either at the house itself, Carlton Lees or in the village of Beely. The estate houses many events throughout the year, many of which are free to attend. The grounds themselves offer a hugely diverse range of walking routes, some of which are described below.

Routes

Due to the popularity of Chatsworth there are so many paths that you can take.

Variations you can create yourself, beforehand or on the fly, combining or shorting routes as you see fit.

We do have some route suggestions here that have plenty of options for extensions or shortening:

Chatsworth: 11km

Calton Lees, Edensor, Chatsworth Stables, The Hunting Tower, Beely Moor and Beely Hilltop
