Our racket sports brand offers tips to help improve your gameplay.

The selection of a grip or overgrip mainly depends on how it feels and the sensation you want when you hold it, but you’ll also need to bear in mind your skill level.

1. Choosing A Grip Or An Overgrip

The selection of a grip or overgrip will be based on how it feels when you pick up your racket, but also on the various technical benefits. A grip is the bandage-like stuff that covers the base of your handle and comes with your tennis racket – though you should replace it at least once a year, ideally twice. An overgrip basically magnifies the characteristics of the base grip and, as the name suggests, goes over the base grip. The characteristics of grips and overgrips are identical, and so the below explanations apply to both types of product.

Grip Comfort

Grips that are referred to as 'smooth' provide comfort and durability. These grips are soft and absorbent.

The Grip Of A Grip

'Dotted' grips are fine and are easily identifiable – thanks to their 'dots'. They’re ideal if you are looking for a grip that offers great sensation and durability.

Grip Absorbtion

If you are looking for a grip that offers a high level of perspiration, absorption and durability, you might like to take a look at our ‘peach skin’ grips, which feature holes for enhanced perspiration absorption.

2. The Thickness Of The Handle

When purchasing a tennis racket, one of the characteristics that you must take into consideration is the thickness of the handle. Grips and overgrips are available to increase the thickness of the handle if necessary. What's more, if you find that you fall between two sizes, go for the smaller one and add an overgrip to achieve the perfect thickness: the overgrip will serve you very well, adding around 1.5mm in thickness.
