This pose has a wide range of benefits, including stretching out your thighs and ankles, strengthening the arches of your feet, improving digestion, and can increase blood circulation in the lower body. It can also be therapeutic. 

While getting into the pose, be wary of any sharp, twisting sensations in your knees. The use of a bolster can support your hips and reduce the immediate pressure on your knees and ankles.
